Effect of Anti Plate-out Agent JCS-310 on Plate-out

Abstract: The anti plate-out agent JCS-310, a new type of processing aid which is designed for improving exhibition of plate-out in the processing of PVC. It is produced by modifying high-density OPE wax, with better compatibility with PVC and can inhibit or reduce plate-out in PVC processing on the basis of not affecting its own demolding.

1 Introduction

Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) is widely used in the field of life because of its excellent performance, low price, high strength and strong corrosion resistance. It is the second largest type of plastic product after polyethylene.Due to the inherent structural characteristics of PVC resin, stabilizers, release agents, lubricants and other processing aids need to be added to produce products with excellent performance in PVC processing. However, some components of PVC would be plate-out and adhere to pressure roller, screw, combiner core, splitter or die inner wall that gradually produce scales, which is called "plate-out". Die impression, defects, gloss decreased and other surface defects or the like may appear on the extruded parts when there is plate-out,causing a series of problems if it is serious, like complexes are peeled off from the equipment and make product surface contaminated. After a period of time, the melt adheres to themetal surface and degrades after being heated, resulting in die paste and corrosion ofequipment,  which continuous production cycle of production machine is shortened and take a lot of labor, production time, production cost to clean up.

It can be seen that almost all elements of formula components could be plate-out, but amount is different. The factors influencing plate-out of PVC processing are complicated, which is the result of multi-component interaction that will change with different processing conditions and use conditions. Since formula added in PVC processing are various and complex, as well as different processing conditions and processing equipment, the research of plate-out mechanism becomes very complicated. At present, PVC processing industry in all fields has been beseting by plate-out.

The anti plate-out agent JCS-310 developed by our company is more easily combined with PVC because of its structural characteristics, which consistent with the principle of similarity compatibility. It is used in PVC processing as processing aids, which not only has excellent demoulding, but also can inhibit plate-out.

2 Recommended Addition Amount

In every 100 parts by weight of PVC resin, the amount of anti plate-out agent JCS-310 is as fol-lows: 0.5 ~ 1.5 parts by weight of anti plate-outagent JCS-310.

3 Comparison Of Plate-Out Experim-Ents With Different Amount Of An-Ti Plate-Out Agent JCS-310

1.Prepare PVC products according to the formu-la in Table 1 below.

2.Processing steps of PVC products: compound the above formula, add the compound into the extruder barrel, and carry out extrusion experiment.
3.The effect of JCS-310 on PVC processing was compared by observing the amount of plate-out in the die and the appearance of PVC products.
4.The processing conditions of PVC with differe-nt amounts of processing aids JCS-310 are sho-wn in Table 2.

Processing Results

4 Conclusion

The experimental results were confirmed that the anti plate-out agent JCS-310 developed by our company can effectively inhibit plate-out in PVC processing, and significantly improve the appearance of PVC products.
